| In November of 2001 I spent a weekend in Amsterdam with a group from IRCAM and the Pompedeu center. They days were short, the light low, but the town was still beautiful, with the last leaves of autum still clinging to the trees along the canals. And there were bikes everywhere, and they seem to have ended up in almost all my shots. | ||||
| My friends Jean-Phillipe and Karine came to the US for the wedding of our mutual friend Laura to an american, George. Before the wedding we took a tour of the east coast of the US together. I documented their trip, with photos in front of the Mark Twain house in Hartford, Connecticut, in front of a blooming magnolia tree in Mystic, Karine with some wild turkeys in Dudley, Mass., Jean Phillipe on the steps of the Met in NYC, and finally, a very funny garden gate seen in Providence, Rhode Island, not far from Brown. For those that don't read french: "Beware, wild dog! Really wicked dog, poorly fed! Lunatic Dog! Never mind the dog, watch out for the master!" | ||||
| My brother Jonathan finally made it to paris, only weeks before I was destined to leave. We toured town together, as he got to see and taste what europe is all about. We stopped at the Montmartre cemetery to say hello to Fernando Sor, the famous guitar composer, at the Lapin Agile, renowned café of the intelligencia in Montmartre around the turn of the century, and climbed to the top of Sacre Coeur together to admire the view (and work off that cheese we'd been eating) | ||||

Here's an oddball from our walk down the canal St. Martin. Rue le Gouve has the most
interesting light and color to it.
Finally, shots from Albi, where I was visiting my old IRCAM collegue Adrien. These shots are of the Cathedral, St. Cécile, who actually lived and died in Albi (her bones are sill in the cathedral collections of treasures!) The inside was done by imported Italian workmen, so it's much more ornate and colorful than your typical french gothic cathedral. The outside is brick, with a very ornate portico. |
