My friend Patrick and his friend Nicole came to visit me in October. Here they are on the banks of the Seine, and at the Louvre. We walked to the Palais Royale, where I took a picture of the birds resting on a sculpture, and of a parisian enjoying a sunday paper in the park.

My brother, Daniel, and mom came for a visit at Christmas. After my mom left, daniel and I took a tour of the city on foot, doing the usual tourist thing, taking pictures of ourselves in front of important parisian landmarks. Here's Daniel at the Palais Royale, Notre Dame (with a really good gooseberry ice cream cone), me on top of the Arab World Institute, and finally my mother and brother on Christmas day, getting bloated eating french food on my sofa.

Paris is full of fun things to photgraph. Sunrise on one of the hilly, cobblestone streets of Montmartre, and "Collectables", at les marchˇs aux puces, the giant flea and antique market north of the city are just two examples. The cast iron rooster has become a leitmotif of my life here. One day while strolling through the parc de la villette, close to the citˇ de la musique, I came across a troupe of drummers. I couldn't record their sound, but I have this picture to remind me of how fun it was to sit and listen for a while.

I finally made it out of Paris, courtesy of RyanAir, who fly round trip to Glasgow for $30. I stayed with an ex-IRCAM stagiˇre, Ross, who showed me the magnificient main building of the University of Glasgow, agreed to pose in front of the Glasgow Cathedral, and led me past the statue of Wellington downtown, who sports cones on his head after friday night scottish revelry. I think the horse looks mighty distinguished with a cone on his head.
