Fiona Lundie is currently pursuing my MFA in Dance at The Ohio State University (OSU) with a prospective graduation date of May 2012. Half of my education here is focused upon physical practice and the other half is theoretical, technical, and historical in the field of dance. I am also enjoying creating new work with both faculty and student choreographers. I am also continuing to explore the cognitive scientific underpinnings of dance, somatic practice, and performance, which I studied during my undergraduate education at Dartmouth College 2009. I had the pleasure of dance for director Ford Evans for four years in the Dartmouth Dance Ensemble (DDE), performing original work by Evans, Marina Harris, Marie Foucault, and Jonah Bokaer as well as repertory by Laura Dean, Twyla Tharp, and Yvonne Rainer. In 2008 Evans took DDE on tour to New Zealand where we had performing as well as cultural exchange opportunities with a Maori tribe. From the movement the Maori people shared with us, I was asked to create a dance piece for the ensemble that was performed in our spring concert in 2008. In addition to this opportunity to choreograph, I created a duet and a small group piece for the ensemble in 2008 and 2009, respectively. I hope the future will involve more opportunities for performance, choreography, and research in dance. |
