Romina de los Santos
Born in La Paz, Bolivia at a 12,000 ft. altitude, my first language was Spanish. My family moved to Santa Clarita, CA when I was six years old, which meant we left my extended family behind. Our home was situated in a desert valley surrounded by mountains and chaparral vegetation.
I had no intent to pursue higher education until I discovered “modern dance” and Cal Arts. Seven Years later, I had adventured through the complicated system of dance in academe (including transferring to Cal State Long Beach), to graduate with a B.F.A. degree comprised of enough credit hours to satisfy an undergraduate and graduate degree.
The past three years I devoted my life to falling in love, living in the woods of Central Oregon, and creating dances in the forest, and on video.
Today finds me living in Columbus, OH. Pursuing a graduate degree in Choreography, and daily balancing who I’ve been until now with who I am hour by hour, and who I think I’d like to become.
I have a passion for moving my body, creating art, exploring a plethora of definitions of dance, staying connected to my love, my family, my cat, and the natural world, and for lying on soft furry [blankets] like a sloth bear in the sun.
