Shayla Koester is currently a freshman Dance major at The Ohio State University. Previous to attending Ohio State, her high school education was obtained from Ottoville Local Schools, where she graduated among the top of her class. Shayla began her dance training with The Dancer by Gina, a company instructed by an OSU Department of Dance Alumni. The Dancer by Gina provided Shayla with many opportunities to travel, participating in master conventions and performances, nationally and internationally. She has obtained scholarships from Company Dance, and L.A. Dance Force, along with two scholarships from Hollywood Vibe. Through these experiences, she has worked with masters of dance, like: Misha Gabriel, Joe Tremaine, Mia Michaels, Brian Friedman, Tyce Diorio, and Laurieann Gibson. Training with these choreographers led Shayla to larger performances like ones with Carnival’s cruise lines and New York’s Broadway Dance Center. To be among these renowned dancers/choreographers has inspired Shayla to stay focused so that she can follow in their footsteps someday. But as for now, Shayla is furthering her education with The Department of Dance, and looks forward to her future with them.
